Vacancy for a Maintenance Operative

Salary, depending on experience, in the NJC Range 7 to 9 (£20,092 - £20,903)

The Town Council is seeking to recruit a full time Maintenance Operative who will be responsible for the maintenance of Town Council owned land and properties. The applicant must be qualified in operating light plant machinery and have a willingness to work in all weather conditions. The operative must hold a full clean driving licence, have excellent organisational skills together with grounds maintenance and DIY skills. Previous experience of working in the public sector would be advantageous.

Maintenance duties to include the caretaking of buildings, open spaces, car parks and public toilets along with grass cutting, weeding and hedge trimming. On occasion there will be requirement to attend special events which are managed by the Town Council.

Working 37 hours per week, there will be an element of administration included in the role. You will be a self motivated team player and will be required to carry out regular inspections on vehicles, service checks and meter readings for buildings and play areas, including fire alarm and emergency lighting test as well as maintaining inventories on all equipment and materials. Preparation of timesheets and weekly rotas are necessary.
