Lutterworth Town Council have taken the very difficult decision to cancel the public event element of the Christmas Lights Switch On this year.

While there will still be Christmas lights put up in the town as usual, it was agreed that with the switch on event attracting 1000's of locals to the town centre it would be impossible to enforce any kind of social distancing and unfortunately there would be no safe way to run it during the current pandemic.

The decision has not come lightly to the team of amazing volunteers that have worked tirelessly to bring the event to us for over 25 years. The Christmas Lights Switch On marks the beginning of Christmas for a lot of people in our Town and we understand that many will be disappointed at the decision.

However, the Events Committee will not be beaten and are still working hard to bring some festive cheer to you in the form of some exciting Christmas competitions, details of which will follow in the next few weeks. They are also considering the possibility that you may be able to see the Lights Switch On remotely, from the comfort of your own home!

Hopefully, we will be back with the traditional event in 2021 and look forward to seeing you all then.
