Special Awards - Citizens of the Year 2019

The Town Mayor, Councillor Tony Hirons started his year in office by recognising 3 local people with a Citizen of the Year award.

Eileen Derrik - Eileen was recognised for her long devotion to public service. From the days of the Rural District Council, to serving as a District Councillor and a former Leader of Harborough District Council to many years as a Town Councillor, serving two terms as Lutterworth Town Mayor.

Judy Smith - For many years, as Armistice Day approached, Judy would head up the local Poppy Appeal ensuring that poppies were available to buy in and around Lutterworth on behalf of the Royal British Legion. She has put in many years of service to the Lutterworth branch and has held many positions within.

John Turner - As a former Town Councillor and Mayor of Lutterworth, John is recognised for his past services and more recent fund raising, benefiting many local charities. John is probably best known for playing a major role in organising the Big Bike Ride, the Plant and Craft Fair at Misterton Hall and his best known legacy will be the sight of hundreds of Santas taking part in the annual Lutterworth Santa Fun Run.
