Cleaner

This post provides a complete service at the Town Council offices and the George Street public conveniences. The post holder must be flexible in attitude and should assume this job description is the minimum duties required.

Hourly rate £9.90 per hour paid monthly (10 Hours per week)

Holiday entitlement 25 days per annum (pro rata, 29 days after 5 years in post)

ROUTINE WORK –

  • Clean toilets,(ladies, gents and disabled persons) wash hand basins and mop floors (ensure that there is an adequate supply of soap and toilet paper available).
  • Empty all bins and disinfect on a regular basis.
  • Sweep/vacuum and dust each room and corridors as required.
  • Clean kitchen sink and all work tops.
  • Clean and polish all offices.
  • Clean windows (inside)
  • Clean tiles in kitchen/toilet area.
  • Clean the fridge.
  • Keep all areas of the offices in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Report when cleaning stock needs ordering.
  • Ensure that chairs, tables etc are properly cleaned and stored.
  • Ensure that all FIRE EXITS are kept clear at all times.
  • Any other general duties that may be required to maintain the building and appropriate service level.

Maintenance Operative

Salary, depending on experience, in the NJC Range 7 to 9 (£20,092 - £22,903) Membership of Local Government Pension Scheme
Holiday entitlement commensurate with role

The Town Council is seeking to recruit a full time Maintenance Operative who will be responsible for the maintenance of Town Council owned land and properties. The applicant must be qualified in operating light plant machinery and have a willingness to work in all weather conditions. The operative must hold a full clean driving licence, have excellent organisational skills together with grounds maintenance and DIY skills. Previous experience of working in the public sector would be advantageous.

Maintenance duties to include the caretaking of buildings, open spaces, car parks and public toilets along with grass cutting, weeding and hedge trimming. On occasion there will be requirement to attend special events which are managed by the Town Council.

Working 37 hours per week, there will be an element of administration included in the role. You will be a self motivated team player and will be required to carry out regular inspections on vehicles, service checks and meter readings for buildings and play areas, including fire alarm and emergency lighting test as well as maintaining inventories on all equipment and materials. Preparation of timesheets and weekly rotas are necessary.
