DEPUTY TOWN CLERK

Lutterworth Town Council serves a rural market town on the border of Leicestershire and Warwickshire. With an annual budget close to £425,000 and representing approximately 11,000 residents, it provides a wide range of services for the local community.

The Town Council is seeking to recruit a full time Deputy Clerk who will be responsible to the Town Clerk for the day-to-day management of several the council's services including payroll and finance. The successful applicant will be required to work in partnership with other statutory bodies and the general public to ensure that the Town Council is delivering excellence.

Working 37 hours per week, you will be a self-motivated team player with proven success in organisation, leadership, communication, and team management. Previous experience in the Local Government sector would be an advantage. You will have excellent IT and Finance skills, will be comfortable with budget setting and management, and will have experience undertaking payroll operations. A willingness to work towards the ILCA (Introduction to Local Council Administration) professional qualification is desirable and a full UK driving licence is essential. The role includes some evening meetings and occasional weekend work.

ADMINISTRATION OFFICER

Salary, depending on experience, in the NJC Range 5 to 7 (£10.04 – 10.44 per hour) Membership of Local Government Pension Scheme

The Town Council is seeking to recruit an Administration Officer to join our team. We are looking for a reliable person to help with general administration tasks and day-to-day management of the council's services. You will also be required to support the Town Clerk and the Deputy Clerk with their day-to-day duties.

The successful applicant will be required to work in partnership with other statutory bodies and the public to ensure that the Town Council is delivering excellence. Working 30 hours per week, the ideal candidate would be a friendly, positive team player who is also able to work independently with exceptional customer service skills. A professional telephone and email manner is essential together with interpersonal skills. You will have excellent IT Knowledge working with Microsoft Word and Excel. Previous experience working within a government authority is not necessary but would be beneficial as well as local knowledge.

A willingness to work towards the ILCA (Introduction to Local Council Administration) professional qualification is desirable and a full UK driving licence is preferred. The role may include include some evening meetings and occasional weekend work.

MAINTENANCE OPERATIVE

Salary, depending on experience, in the NJC Range 7 to 9 (£20,092 - £20,903) Membership of Local Government Pension Scheme

The Town Council is seeking to recruit a full time Maintenance Operative who will be responsible for the maintenance of Town Council owned land and properties. The applicant must be qualified in operating light plant machinery and have a willingness to work in all weather conditions. The operative must hold a full clean driving licence, have excellent organisational skills together with grounds maintenance and DIY skills. Previous experience of working in the public sector would be advantageous.

Maintenance duties to include the caretaking of buildings, open spaces, car parks and public toilets along with grass cutting, weeding and hedge trimming. On occasion there will be requirement to attend special events which are managed by the Town Council.

Working 37 hours per week, there will be an element of administration included in the role. You will be a self motivated team player and will be required to carry out regular inspections on vehicles, service checks and meter readings for buildings and play areas, including fire alarm and emergency lighting test as well as maintaining inventories on all equipment and materials. Preparation of timesheets and weekly rotas are necessary.
